Craig Bellamy states the English player pool is remarkable that a boxing promoter wouldn't match them with the Welsh team.

The Welsh squad face England in a non-competitive match at Wembley on this Thursday before their important World Cup qualifier against the Belgians next the following week.

National team coach Thomas Tuchel has left the such as Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Grealish from his squad for the Wales friendly and their World Cup qualifier against Latvia.

"England have a incredible squad, similar to France," the coach said.

"England have a market valuation of £1.4bn, Wales' is £170m. Were you a fight promoter, you wouldn't match us up. It wouldn't be allowed."

He explains making sure the Welsh team can compete with the talented opponents is a "driving force".

The Wales head coach added: "We do not rely on values, but the simple fact is they have more than a single lineup. They have multiple and France and other nations are similarly stacked. England have loads of great players and that's a fact."

"A defender went out with injury the recently and there's only two dozen others to go! They've got 60-odd players. I wish Wales to be stacked like them."

These two nations last faced each other at the 2022 tournament in Qatar, when England ran out comfortable victors in a fixture before the previous England team reached the last eight.

Southgate's successor is Thomas Tuchel, a European and world club champion at Chelsea who has claimed domestic titles in Ligue 1 and his native Germany.

Bellamy was previously an coach at Anderlecht and the English club to Kompany, who replaced him at the German giants.

"Tuchel's an outstanding manager - his achievements is proven," Bellamy added.

"I have some sort of understanding because the team he departed I am familiar with people who have gone in there. I get a glimpse there of his methods and it's remarkable. "

"His strategic planning is elite and I aimed to be up against that - observe how you're going to adapt because he will. I can learn from it. I'd love to get to that level."
